Joules Restaurant

Joules restaurant is somewhat of a hidden gem located in the centre of Cheltenham. On arriving at this warmly furnished Italian restaurant located in Clarence Court Hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming it was.

Although Joules is situated downstairs in Clarence Court Hotel, it is wonderfully bright, stylish and contemporary. Along with a lovely restaurant they have a relaxing space to drink coffee, eat their delicious homemade cake and access their free wifi, which is always a welcome bonus.

It is clear that this is a restaurant that is clearly dedicated to serving high quality food by using local produce for their food and delivering it with a high quality service.

Joules specialities are their handmade stone baked pizzas, alongside a wide variety of pasta dishes and some classics such as homemade burgers and fajitas.

Just head to their website to view their vast and rather scrummy looking menu. If you’re planning on heading over to Joules to sample their delicious food, don’t forget to mention ‘Total Star’ as this will get you 10% off your bill!

As Joules are open from 10am daily, this would make it the perfect place for a business meeting, or just a catch up with friends over a bite to eat.

Dan Fivey Personal Training Studio

When I first arrived at Dan Fivey’s personal training studio, located above Up and Running on Cheltenham High Street, I was pleasantly surprised. It was unlike any other studio or gym that I had been in; it was quiet with no booming music and completely relaxed. There was a lady having a personal training session with a member of staff and the lady looked like she was enjoying herself, but it was clear that the training session wasn’t easy.

Having been a member of several different gyms over the last six years it’s rare to walk into a studio for the first time without feeling slightly panicked or intimidated, but here I felt completely at home. The equipment in the studio is advanced and I was fascinated by the VibroGym and a treadmill that looked like it had an inflatable balloon attached to it. I was later informed by Dan that this is the anti gravity treadmill.

The anti gravity treadmill at this studio is one of only six in the country. If you have suffered an injury or gone through surgery and want to start training again, this machine is for you. The anti gravity machine is a rehabilitation device that provides weight-bearing technology.

You start off by putting on some very fetching shorts and then you’re zipped into the treadmill, it fills up with air and you adjust the percentage of your weight. I lost 20% of my body weight instantly and it felt good! I was able to run at complete ease - it’s a great piece of equipment for someone like me, as I have had many operations on my knees and I’m not meant to do much high impact training. So because this reduced my weight, it reduced the impact on my knees but still let me run and burn off some calories.

As well as offering personal training, VibroGym, Watt Bike, boxing training and much more within the studio, Dan also offers outdoor training such as a running club. Outdoor training is good for those that don’t want to be confined in a gym, but need the support and motivation of a trainer. Also, within the studio they have a talented masseuse. I can imagine after a hard session, having a massage would be a very welcome treat!

All in all, Dan Fivey’s Personal Training Studio is a great place to train whether you're fitness level is at it's peak or you're just starting out.

Amazing eBay Description

IKEA Wardrobe with Two Drawers

Great for putting stuff in.

If you are a fan of wardrobes made by Scandinavian furniture stores where you can also buy a hotdog and drink for just £1.10, then this item is for you.

This wardrobe is light beech in colour. Some people may think it's maple. I suggest you make your own mind up by looking at the picture and comparing it to a Dulux paint colour chart or similar.

It has two doors on the front that open as well as close. There is a frosted plastic panel in the middle of each door to make it look pretty. If you were to climb inside the wardrobe and shut the doors behind you, you would probably be able to make shapes out through the panel but wouldn't be able to successfully spy on anyone through it. Perhaps you could just peep round the door or use one of those little mirrors on a stick that dentists have.

The doors attached to this wardrobe also have handles, ideal for opening and closing them or for scratching your back if you are a large bear, similar to Baloo off The Jungle Book. He loved a good scratch. Just watch The Bare Necessities video on YouTube. I just have. It's brilliant.

Inside the wardrobe is not a gateway to a magical land called Narnia but a hanging rail. This is not only almost as magical but also very useful to hang your clothes on. You will need to put your clothes on coat hangers before attaching them to the rail. I have a few spare hangers that I could throw in if it would sweeten the deal.

The overall size of the wardrobe is 181cm high, 74.5cm wide and 52cm deep. The height of the hanging bit is 139cm.

As if the wardrobe wasn't enough, there are also two drawers at the bottom. These also have handles on them and they slide in and out to make it easier to put things in (the drawers, not the handles). These drawers are 15.5cm high which means they are ideal for putting things in like your undies, neatly folded shirts or a small puppy. *Please note, I do not condone nor reccommend you keep any living creature in these drawers. The purchaser does so entirely at their own risk.

This wardrobe is now dismantled and ready to go to a new home. Due to it's size it is for local pick up only. When you come to collect I suggest you bring something bigger than a bicycle or Smart Car although I'm sure it would fit into a hatchback. I have a saw if we need to make it fit but that does tend to make rebuilding the wardrobe at yours a little tricky. If you lived close by, perhaps you could ask a few friends to come and help you carry it home, that way you would be helping the environment by not using a car.

If you would like to bring cash on collection, that would be great as that means I can go down the shop and spend it on sweets and ice cream.

Thank you for looking and if you've read all this description, well done you. You deserve a pat on the back.

Joe's Blog

Well another busy week on Breakfast...

I spoke to James Clay from Sue Ryder Care - Leckhampton Court Hospice about this year's Big Wigs Business Challenge, where they're attempting to find the county's budding entrepeneurs! They want you to turn £50 of their money into as much money as possible can by getting you to reinvest it into a series of fundraising events. So what fundraising ideas have you got? Whether you're an individual or want to get some mates together if you fancy getting creative, sign up here and help raise much needed funds.

There was a great deal of tension across the county on Thursday as thousands of teenagers awaited their A-level results. We heard from Hazel-Louise Brown from Balcarass School who was hoping to get the grades she needed in Philosophy and Ethics, ICT and Business Studies to get the apprentice job at GE Aviation. Well guess what... she did and will now study at Coventry University! Congratulations Hazel!

Finally, I took a trip to the Beechwood shopping centre in Cheltenham to jump aboard the bucking bronco. I queued up alongside the little kids on their summer holiday to see them score impressive times of between 20 to 30 seconds. How long did I last on the bull as it span around? 3 seconds. 3 whole seconds! Congratulations to Nicholas who was Thursday's daily winner acheiving the longest time of the day lasting 44 seconds. He put me to shame.

Plus new to the Pub Quiz at 9am is an additional prize up for grabs on a Friday, you could win a £20 bar tab to be spent at the Fiery Angel in Cheltenham at their Sunday night pub quiz!

See you weekday mornings from 6am.
