Photos of Knife Left at Scene of Burglary

Posted on 12 October 2011
Police investigating a burglary and assault at a home in Stow-on-the-Wold in July have renewed their appeal for information by releasing a photo of a knife that was left at the scene along with efits of the offenders.

Shortly before 8.15pm on Tuesday July 12 police received a report that three men had entered the home of a 57-year-old man at The Park.

They threatened the man, demanding money, and assaulted him.

The man was able to shout for help and a number of local residents came to his aid and called the police.

The three men then left the house. It's thought that they drove from the area in a small red car, possibly a Citroen Saxo.

The victim was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital to receive treatment for an injury to his nose.

The knife, which isn't thought to have been used as a weapon in the robbery, was found in the home

 after the incident.

The knife appears to be a sharpened skean dhu (sgian-dubh), a small knife that is worn on the leg as part of traditional Scottish Highland dress.

It is around 16cm long, with a thistle symbol on the handle, which is dark grey in colour with silver trim.

Investigating officers have being carrying out a number of enquiries to identify those involved and believe the knife might be a vital clue.

They are now turning to the public for their help and ask anyone who recognises the knife, or the individuals from the efits, to contact them by calling 101 and quoting incident number 456 of July 12.

Information can also be given anonymously via the Crimestoppers website www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary in connection to the incident and has been bailed to return to the police station on November 23, pending further enquiries.

CCTV Released of Stone from War Memorial Being Dumped

Posted on 11 October 2011
Police investigating criminal damage to a war memorial in Prestbury have released CCTV footage they believe shows a piece of the stone being ‘dumped' at the side of the road.

The damage to the Cotswold stone memorial on the High Street was caused between 11.25pm and 11.40pm on Friday October 7.

Police have been scouring local CCTV, determined to find those responsible.

The CCTV released today, Monday October 10, shows a silver car, possibly a Peugeot, at approximately 11.25pm, turning left into Lexington Square in Cheltenham off the B4075 before appearing again on the roundabout.

The vehicle stops briefly whilst another vehicle passes before the driver gets out of the car with the piece of the memorial and throws it onto the side of the road before driving off along Swindon Lane.

Investigating officers continue to appeal to the individual or individuals involved, or anyone who knows is responsible, to come forward.

Earlier today the local Sergeant, Mark Stephens, made a plea to the person or people responsible:

He said: "If you caused this damage, look into yourself and think of the horrors those named on that memorial faced when their lives were taken from them. They were almost certainly younger than you are now. You have an opportunity to put some of this right by doing what you know you must do. Show a fraction of their courage and come forward."

The footage can be seen on the Constabulary's Facebook page and also on Youtube.

Information should be given to Gloucestershire Police on the new non-emergency number, 101, quoting incident number 590 of October 7.

You can also give information anonymously by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Posted on 05 October 2011
Police officers investigating the theft of petrol from the Bridge Service Station in Stonehouse have released CCTV as they appeal to the public for information.

The theft happened on the afternoon of Friday September 23 when a Ford Focus drove onto the Forecourt. A passenger in the car got out of the vehicle and filled the car with £66.02 worth of fuel.

He then returned to the car, which drove off, without the petrol having been paid for.

Anyone who recognises the man seen on the CCTV images is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101 quoting incident number 295 of September 23.
